Digital Health in Luxembourg & EHDS
Refonte du DSP Luxembourg 2026 21 Apr, 2026
Imagine you are on vacation in Italy or on a business trip in Germany. A health incident occurs. Tomorrow, thanks to the European Health Data Space (EHDS), the doctor treating you will have instant access to your medical history, allergies, and current treatments, all translated into their language.
1. EHDS: A European Standard for Your Safety
Adopted in April 2024, the EHDS regulation is a legal obligation for Member States to ensure the portability of health data.
- Horizon 2026-2027: Mandatory implementation of sharing "Patient Summaries" and electronic prescriptions.
- The Technical Challenge: Medical software across all countries must speak a common computer language (HL7 FHIR standard).
- Sovereignty: The patient remains the sole master of their data, with strict control over consent.
2. Luxembourg DSP: A Necessary Overhaul
At the national level, the Shared Health Record (DSP) is the vehicle for this ambition. However, the current system must evolve. Agence eSanté has launched a global overhaul project to make the DSP a more modern tool, perfectly compatible with 2026 European requirements.
3. Doctipro’s Approach: Technology Serving the Transition
For Doctipro, the role is to anticipate future needs while remaining pragmatic. Rather than maintaining connections to a national infrastructure at the end of its cycle, we have made the strategic choice to prepare for native integration with the future DSP.
A technical approach designed for transition As with the entire sector, aligning with the EHDS and the new DSP will be a gradual process. However, the choice of a modern architecture for Doctipro allows us to approach these changes with greater technical flexibility. This structure is designed to integrate future standards more smoothly, making the transition easier for practitioners.
4. What Changes for Practitioners and Patients
The success of the EHDS and the future DSP relies on trust.
- For the Patient: Safer care across Europe, with no loss of information.
- For the Doctor: A more complete diagnostic tool, free from administrative and linguistic barriers.
