Born in Moselle, the doctor Nicolas NIMESKERN  began his medical studies in Strasbourg, where he developed an early and strong interest in human anatomy and facial surgery. His academic rigour led him to become a teaching assistant in anatomy at the Institute of Normal Anatomy, where he also completed a Master’s degree in Anatomy, providing a solid foundation for the practice of maxillofacial surgery, craniofacial surgery and facial aesthetic surgery.

After successfully passing the French National Residency Examination, he pursued specialist training in General Surgery and Maxillofacial Surgery in Nantes, within the department of Professor Delaire, internationally recognised for expertise in jaw deformities and orthognathic surgery. This period played a key role in shaping his comprehensive approach, combining surgical precision, functional outcomes and facial harmony.

Advanced hospital experience in Paris

He subsequently completed ten months of military service in Paris at the Percy Military Teaching Hospital, working in the department of Professor Cantaloube, specialising in plastic, aesthetic and maxillofacial surgery, as well as the treatment of severe burn injuries.
This experience enabled him to develop advanced skills in facial reconstruction, complex tissue management and high-level surgical care in demanding clinical situations.

Specialisation in cranio-maxillofacial surgery in Lyon

He completed his university training in Lyon, in the department of Professor Béziat, a leading authority in cranio-maxillofacial surgery. There, he further refined his expertise in the management of complex facial pathologies, congenital malformations, occlusal disorders, and orthognathic surgery, aimed at improving chewing function, breathing and facial aesthetics.

Scientific involvement and professional engagement

Throughout his career, the doctor has remained actively involved in scientific research and the ongoing development of surgical techniques. He is a former member of the International Bone Research Association and the French Association of Maxillofacial Surgeons, reflecting his commitment to academic and professional excellence.

He regularly attends international congresses, particularly in the field of orthognathic surgery, in order to remain at the forefront of current medical and surgical advances. He is notably involved in scientific exchanges within the BSOSO network.

Continuing education and multidisciplinary approach

As part of his commitment to comprehensive patient care, he completed the first year of the University Diploma in Orthodontics at Paris Sorbonne University. This additional training strengthens collaboration between orthodontics and maxillofacial surgery, which is essential in the management of complex jaw and dental alignment disorders.

Hospital activity and teaching

He currently works as an Associate Practitioner at Lyon Nord University Hospital, where he is actively involved in patient care within an academic hospital environment.

He has also served as a Teaching Associate in the Inter-University Diploma in Orthognathic Surgery at Lyon Sud, contributing to the training of future specialists in maxillofacial and orthognathic surgery.
