Dr Alexander Pincherle – Neurologist
Dr Alexander Pincherle is a neurologist specialising in the care of adults and children. With more than 20 years of experience in neurology, neurophysiology and neurorehabilitation, he has particular expertise in epileptology, sleep medicine, clinical neurophysiology, neurodevelopmental disorders, disorders of consciousness and cerebrovascular medicine.
He obtained his medical degree from the University of Milan and specialised in neurophysiopathology at the University of Genoa. He subsequently completed a Master’s degree in Stroke Medicine at Charité in Berlin and obtained a qualification in sleep medicine from the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS). He has also undertaken specialised training in ADHD and child development.
His professional career has included work as a neurologist at the Carlo Besta Neurological Institute in Milan and as a senior clinician in neurology and neurorehabilitation in Switzerland. From 2018 to 2023, he worked as a consultant neurologist at Hôpitaux Robert Schuman in Luxembourg.
Dr Pincherle provides neurological consultations for adults, children and adolescents, both for initial assessments and follow-up care. His clinical practice includes the assessment and treatment of epilepsy, sleep disorders, ADHD, neurodevelopmental disorders, cognitive disorders and a range of neurological conditions.
Diagnostic examinations and neurophysiology
The diagnostic services include EEG, EMG, evoked potentials including P300, polysomnography, Doppler ultrasound of the supra-aortic vessels (TSA), heart rate variability (HRV) analysis and neuropsychological assessments, including evaluation of attention, executive functions, working memory and processing speed.
Neurofeedback sessions are also available.
ADHD assessment and treatment
ADHD assessment follows a structured approach including an initial neurological consultation, a detailed medical and developmental history, and consideration of the patient’s family, school and professional environment. Additional examinations and a neuropsychological assessment may be performed when appropriate. Treatment may combine behavioural approaches, cognitive behavioural therapy, medication and neurofeedback, depending on the individual needs of the patient.
Sleep medicine
Dr Pincherle also specialises in the assessment and management of sleep disorders and sleep apnoea. Depending on the clinical situation, treatment may include nocturnal ventilation or mandibular advancement devices.
